The word genius is one I rarely use. But, when it comes to Ciriaco "Cacoy" Canete, it fits! He is an international seminar lecturer, a warrior, an award-winning martial artist, a recipient of various martial arts Hall of Fame inductions, and even a part time comedian to a chosen few.

Cacoy has lived well, laughed often, and is a big influence to those who have trained under his guidance. Cacoy's laughter and endless jokes connotes confidence, positive emotions and good health. Cacoy once said to me that "without constant laughter one develops negative emotions which contributes to illness". Many people take themselves far too seriously. As kids we laugh a lot, we dream alot, but then we grow up and we become a heart attack waiting to happen! The power of positive emotions through laughter heals much. GM Cacoy avoids negative attitude and poor health because he laughs at himself, laughs with his friends, his family, and his students. It keeps him going, keeps him healthy and keeps him motivated for us to learn and enjoy.

Because Supreme Grandmaster Cacoy is everyones favorite, we will be celebrating his 90th birthday celebration on June 14th, Sunday after his annual seminar at the IMB Instructors Conferenece. SGM Cacoy's seminar will start at 0900 and end at 1530. The dinner banquet will start at 1800 at a restaurant TBA. Dress code will be Hawaiian, Filipino or Mexican attire and no smelly gym apparels. The seminar and buffet dinner will cost $75.00 per person. The dinner alone will cost $40.00 per person. All the proceeds will be our gift to SGM Cacoy from all in attendance. In lieu of birthday presents, money, loot, US currency, greenbacks, or dinero with a birthday card will be appreciated.
